Anne Scott

Starting as an athlete with Edinburgh Athletic Club and later competing for ESH a 15-year career from 1972- 1987 saw Anne gaining a Scottish vest in the 4x400 and a bronze medal in the 400 Scottish Championships in 1983, her best season.
Her PB time of 55.19 would still rank her in the top 10 in this year’s Scottish rankings. Anne’ s contribution to athletics both as a team manager and as a coach for the 35 years since retiring as an athlete is legendary. She was team manager for the Scottish Women’s League, the McDonald’s league and after the merger in 2006 she continued to team manage the UK women’s league team, winning that prestigious league on 2 occasions and leading the team to Europe as UK representatives in Portugal in 2014 and to Turkey in 2015. She was also a team manager for Scottish National Teams in the late 1990s. She continues to help with team management of Glasgow Jaguars, a pathway for track and field Senior athletes to experience National League Competition and supported by EAC.
Both last year and this year she has been shortlisted as Performance Development coach of the year by Scottish athletics for her work with Alyson Bell, who this season was selected for the 200M individual and was part of the record-breaking gold medal 4x100M relay squad in the European U23 Championships.
She is a level 3 Performance Coach and alongside husband John was a worthy recipient of the Eric Liddell Recognition Award, which recognised the decades she has spent coaching, inspiring, and mentoring athletes of all levels and her unwavering support and encouragement has helped countless athletes in ESH and EAC achieve their goals.
