Keith Ridley

Honorary Life Member

Keith has been involved for over 50 years with athletics in Edinburgh, competing as a sprinter and 400M runner from 1968 to 1986 and as a master’s athlete from 2000 to 2022. He competed for EAC and became involved in coaching, administration and team managing when his son joined the club.

He was a team manager of the British Athletics League, and Scottish Men’s League in the late 1970s and early 1980s and enjoyed huge success in the National Junior League when ESH and City of Edinburgh merged to form the “new” EAC, building up the men’s team to become competitive in the new joint league. He managed the men’s team in the highly successful Team Edinburgh and his organisational skills are legendary. He also managed the EAC team in the Scottish Men’s league for 8 years.

He is currently Team Manager of the Men’s team in Glasgow Jaguars and has also taken over the role of coordinating registration of members with Scottishathletics, OpenTrack and Power of 10, in addition to selecting and sending out invitations to selected athletes and compiling the club records and an annual ranking list.

He is a Level 3 Sprints and Hurdles coach and coached Tom Holligan to a gold in the 200m at the European Youth Olympics and in the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011. He continues to coach at Meadowbank and has a squad which includes Hector Faulkner silver medallist in the Scottish U20 championships. He was also records administrator and recorder at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Keith’s passion for the club has not diminished and his highly organised approach to coaching and team management ensures that their experience is positive and enriching.
