“Ross was a very talented Young Athlete who was coached at Meadowbank by among others Bill Walker, he set a World Age best at the age of 13 (1.88m) and at 14 with (2.04m)
Ross is the youngest athlete to represent Scotland, which he did at the age of 14 years 334 days in a Scotland v England v Wales. He then represented GB v Russia when he was 15 years 316 days old
Ross was AAA youth Champion, his pb was 2.08m in 1978 aged 16
Unfortunately Ross had to retire from athletics due to injury in his early teens”
