4th Place for the Jaguars

12 EAC athletes were part of Glasgow Jaguars, who competed in the Premier Division of the National Athletics League in Derby and were rewarded with an excellent 4th place finish behind Thames Valley, Harrow and Woodford Green and Essex Ladies.


Mhairi Patience had an excellent win in the B 100MH (14.35) adding 10 valuable points to the team score.  Ewan Purves had a busy day, gaining valuable points with a 4th place finish in the A 800 in 1.54.84, only a second short of his lifetime best, after finishing in 5th place in the B 400(49.14) and he finished his day by running a leg of the 4x400M. Anise Macaulay Orr had a fine win in the B 800 (2.16.52) and then gained valuable points in the 5k, finishing in 3rd place in the B event.  Newcomer to the team Luke Gay played his part in the strong team performance, running a sub 60 in the 400 hurdles, making his debut in the 3K S/Chase for 4 points and running a leg of the 4x400M.

There was a win for Alice Baxendale (42.33) in the B Discus on her debut for the team and she gained valuable points with 10.50 in the A shot.  Alex Poustie-Williamson also in his first match finished 2nd in the guest 400M with a PB of 49.96. Bera Ajala (6.86) finished 3rd in the B Long Jump, and 15-year-old James Anderson made his debut in the High Jump, having made the long journey from Stornoway with a solid clearance at 1.86.

Donald Ross and newcomer Daniel Reardon were the “Vault team” and put in solid performances at this level with 3.41 clearances and Daniel ran a leg of the 4x400M relay.

Patrick Barnes did the 800 and 1500M double in the hot conditions finishing in 6th place in the B 800 with 2.00. 88 and was the A scorer in the 1500M with 4.12.58.  Stacey Downie ran in the individual 200M and was pleased with her 25.03 for 7th in the B race and she anchored the young relay team to a splendid 2nd place in the 4x100M.

The athletes are delighted that EAC are offering this pathway and would like to thank the trustees for their support.

The team were supported by a cohort of dedicated EAC officials and team managers, who have been proactive in maintaining this pathway for our athletes as they move into the Senior ranks.
